Chats in the garden with Catherine Chenery: how to create environments and living spaces in your garden

  • &hobbs The Forge Middle Street Shere UK (map)

I am so excited for this! I love gardening, another passion my mother has taught me!

And this Sunday to celebrate Shere Open Gardens we have local garden designer Catherine having a chat in our garden. We will be covering how to create living environments, moments of calm and inspirations in your green spaces what ever the style or size.

Catherine will also be doing a Q&A at the end so you leave full to the brim with ideas and inspiration!

And to top it off we have the lovely Tom from Tattams mixing up lovely botanical cocktails from Seedlip

A bit about Catherine,

Catherine Chenery is an award winning garden designer and botanical stylist with a background in History of Art and a life-long love of plants and the outdoors. Catherine refined her knowledge of plants and eye for design when she studied at the London College of Garden Design, graduating with a distinction.

Catherine’s garden design style is characterised by soft planting contrasted with contemporary landscaping. Designing with a holistic approach allows Catherine to focus on balancing strong design with the demands on the space and the needs of the client. The core of Catherine’s approach is a desire to understand the client’s style and the way in which they want to use the garden, aiming to create a space that is not only beautiful but becomes an intrinsic part of their life and home.

A glance through Catherine’s portfolio will show you projects ranging from urban roof terraces to large country gardens. Catherine adapts her approach to suit the individual client, surroundings of the garden and history of the location.

A highlight of Catherine’s career to date was being awarded the People’s Choice Award at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2015. Collaborating with horticulturalist Barbara Harfleet, Catherine created ‘Unique’, a show garden for the Rare Chromosome Disorder Society which featured soft, textural planting around curving gravel paths.

A love of natural, informal planting is reflected in botanical styling projects. These include wedding posies of meadow flowers and wild flower bouquets for a Midsummer Night’s Dream themed bridal party. This summer, Catherine will be exhibiting at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in collaboration with Riot Balloons. The ‘Chelsea Jungle’ will be an immersive jungle dreamscape of exotic foliage and vibrant balloons.
